Sonia Luthra is a Managing Director at Societe Generale, based in London. She is SG’s UK
Country Data Protection Officer, Legal Head of Data Protection, and UK Legal Lead for AI,
data governance, and cybersecurity. She is a Certified Data Protection Practitioner (PC.dp),
IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) and Artificial Intelligence
Governance Professional (AIGP).

With degrees in English Law and French Law, and a postgraduate Master’s in International
Business Law, Sonia is a Solicitor with 25 years legal experience advising and negotiating
commercial contracts, specialising in Information Technology, Intellectual Property and Data
Protection.

Prior to joining Societe Generale in 2011, she spent 10 years in private practice and was
seconded as a technology lawyer to British Airways, RBS and Worldpay.
Sonia is a champion for diversity, equality and inclusion and is a Director on the Board of the
London Women’s Forum (LWF), a network for senior female leaders in financial services,
where she also leads LWF’s Marketing and Communications Committee.
